Europlex Data Protocol for IP monitoring supported by leading software houses

Oct 19 2010

Reading UK

To meet the changing requirements of remote alarm monitoring, and the increasing demand from end users to reduce the ongoing costs associated with intruder alarm systems, leading alarm management software houses have added IP monitoring of Europlex alarm panels to their portfolio.

Addressing the benefits of integrating IP communications for remote monitoring of alarm signalling and remote control of product features within Europlex SigNET intruder detection system, Bold and Monitor Computer Systems now offer the secure IP monitoring of any IP ready SigNET intruder detection system, and any legacy Europlex system fitted with a CiTec IP interface.

With typically 80% of alarm systems currently monitored via telephone lines, the advent of IP monitoring offers customers the option to reduce the associated high annual line costs and line transmission monitoring. By allowing commercial and domestic operators to use their existing broadband connections for their remote monitoring, Gemini from Bold, and Sentinel Plus from Monitor Computer Systems now offer enhanced flexibility for the management and monitoring of Europlex IP signaling systems, which can offer much lower operating costs without compromising security.

"Integrating and managing the Europlex Data Protocol from SigNET and CiTec alarm signaling systems over IP, the latest version of Sentinel Plus provides alarm signal reporting, line supervision (i.e. line fault reporting), and remote control of the alarm panel (set/unset/reset/relay on/off/ etc) in one package," says Mike Askew, MD of Monitor Computer Systems. "Sentinel Plus can manage multiple area alarm panels, including remote control and multiple transmission paths, while at the same time making the operator's task of alarm handling as simple and error free as possible."

Also supporting Europlex Data Protocol, Bold's multi-platform software, Gemini, offers alarm monitoring and management via reverse channel commands. "Alarm events and system management are handled together with remote control of areas, zones, access control and outputs, to provide enhanced functionality," says Brian Kelly, MD at Bold. "Alarm systems can be armed, disarmed and interrogated without the necessity of a site visit. For added security, polling to site and encryption is fully supported and the status of each area can be monitored."

"As the interest in IP security communications and systems integration continues to grow, the leading alarm management software houses are supplying a customer driven demand for single high-performance management applications," confirms Hannah Broadhurst, Business Development Manager for Intruder Products at Norbain. "Ideal for upgrading existing systems with minimal disruption and providing ease of programming and operational flexibility, remote support and automatic maintenance, the IP communications and monitoring offered by Europlex SigNET provides customers a host of cost and performance benefits."
