Barry Shakespeare
Managing Director

Conversant with the world of Telecommunications and IT, Barry Shakespeare worked for Case Communications as International Sales Director, where he was responsible primarily for the company’s business external to the UK and USA. This was followed by a spell at Philips Business Systems, where he was appointed MD for the company’s UK voice & data business.
In 1990 Barry formed start-up company National Network as partner and CEO. The company was one of the UK’s first ‘switchless’ carriers, re-selling enhanced network services. At Kasten Chase Applied Research from 1992, Barry was responsible for the company’s EMEA and Asia/Pacific businesses, selling secure enterprise network access technologies and middleware software. Between 1990 and 2000 Barry was part of the senior leadership team completing 2 business trade sales and a full IPO listing in Canada.
Barry then joined Nortel Networks where for 2 years he was President of the Cable & Wireless Global account team, followed by a further 2 years as President of Nortel’s Enterprise Channels across EMEA.
Joining Westcon Group in 2005, Barry had full EBITDA responsibility for the company’s Pan-European and Middle East value-added Telecommunications and IT distribution business with sales of> €1Bn. He worked closely with key vendors including Cisco, Alcatel, Avaya, Nortel, HP, Juniper, Checkpoint, Trend, Bluecoat, Polycom & Sony.
